Hostage -Part Eighteen-I sat silently at my desk, listing the scientific names of any flowers I could think of, just so I wouldn’t be able to think about Eric. By the time my psychology class started, I was starting to see nothing but flowers. Luckily, I managed to get through the class without any other problems arising, though I was questioned a time or two as to my absence, of which I answered the same way. “I took a short vacation to relieve a little stress.” In actuality, the only stress I had been going through before I had been taken was the occasional feeling of being watched, which made a lot of sense now that I was safely back in tHostage -Part Eighteen-

Hostage -Part Eight-I had been walking for at least an hour when I had finally started recognizing the buildings I was passing in the city. I was at most another hour away from my home, but I could walk for several more if it meant I could finally be home where it was safe… Relatively safe, at least. I had no doubt that Eric knew where I lived and how to get in without much trouble. Tomorrow, I would go out and buy a good alarm system, but I would simply live with it tonight. If Eric wanted in, I doubted that an alarm would deter him for very long.Hostage -Part Eight-

Hostage -Part Nine-It was dark all around me. I could only see my body. My hands, scarred from work in the garden, seemed to glow along with the rest of my body. What was this? I must have been dreaming, but I felt cold. My skin was numb for several seconds before pain erupted throughout my body. My lungs, my throat, my side, even my skull felt as if it would explode any second from the pressure behind my eyes. I couldn’t hear myself screaming, but I knew that I was. My hands were firmly placed to my temples as if to quell the ache. The pain only seemed to worsen as I sank to my knees in this world of darkness.Hostage -Part Nine-

Hostage -Part Seven-Devin had barely managed to make me eat some stew with the excuse that I hadn’t eaten for two days and I would get sick if I didn’t eat something. I had to admit; I felt somewhat better afterward. I was brooding over the fact that Eric had gone back to finish his business with the boss, or le patron as he referred to him, without returning my inhaler to me. I couldn’t meet his gaze. Why did I feel so damn guilty? I wasn’t doing anything wrong! She was a few inches taller but only with her high heels. Her skin looked as if she had spent all her life in the sun, it was so tan. I squirmed in my restraints to see if any of the knots would give, though I was quite sure they wouldn’t before I began the menial task. Somehow, I leaned too far forward and our heads collided. They refused to get involved. They had their own kids to tend to without worry for a strange little girl who kept going up to strangers and asking them where her mama and papa were. After yet another rejection, Elya gave up. She tried so hard not to cry as she seated herself on a nearby park bench.
